‘Apple Dancers’ by Dale Rogers Selected

The Northborough Arts Council is excited to announce a major milestone for the "LOVE Northborough Sculpture" project, the selection of the final winning design. Following a process that included surveying community ideas, selecting eligible artists, and gathering community votes, the winner chosen by a majority of Northborough respondents is “Apple Dancers” by Dale Rogers of Haverhill, MA.

This new, permanent landmark is inspired by the Community and Heritage spirit of Northborough. It will stand as a lasting reflection of our town's heart—from the strong bonds between our neighbors to our rich history of agricultural roots, industrial past, and landmarks.

About the Winning Sculpture

The four final designs presented to the Town were representative of very different styles—from abstract to literal to conceptual—each reflecting the essence of Northborough through the artists’ eyes.

The winning piece, "Apple Dancers," features:

  • Two abstract human figures fabricated from weathering Corten steel.

  • The figures are depicted in fluid motion, balanced, supportive, and interlinked, embodying the idea of community.

  • Their arms reach up to reflect aspiration, hope, and unity.

  • Together, they hold a single, large stainless-steel apple above them. The apple, an iconic symbol of Northborough, will serve as a beacon of what the town represents.

We are thrilled that the artist is from our state and has popular reach through his current installations in many states, including Massachusetts.
